Who is Realty By Design?

I’m Lisa Henderson, Broker and Owner of Realty By Design.  I started the company in the spring of 2011 as a way of providing consumers with choices of quality real estate services at a fair price -- especially at a time when it’s most needed.  Today’s real estate clients have different and unique needs and there’s no standard service that’s right for everyone.  Few companies give you options when it comes to selling your home and I wanted to change that.

Why do I do what I do?

Before going into the real estate profession, I was home seller with a real estate commission bill from a well-known company for over $25,000. As far as I was concerned, that was too much.  I could have purchased a car for that amount. And, with a child going to college in a few years, I wish I could have saved even a small portion of it. 

Even though I eventually went to work for this same company, I soon learned a few things about the business about which I became disenchanted.

A couple of years later I went to work for a low commission broker because I knew there was a more efficient way of doing business that could save consumers money without sacrificing service.

I learned everything I could about the low commission brokerage business, and armed with my vast 25 years of entrepreneurial experience, I decided to open my own brokerage as a way provided consumers with even more choice and savings.

What do I stand for?

While real estate agents work hard and deserve a fair fee for their work, the internet has changed the way the real estate business is conducted. It has made marketing a home and disseminating information faster and easier.  However, very little has changed in the way real estate companies charge for their services.  I believe it’s time for a change.

But I also believe that with the change in commission fees, there should never be a reduction in service.  I think even the simplest of jobs should be done with the highest of standards.
